The company was founded in 2017. The founder came across a roll of surplus military elastic in an Army Navy surplus store. Although the material had a distressed look and an unpleasant smell, it matched the size of the strap needed for their Seiko 6105-8110 watch. Intrigued by the comfort and design possibilities, the founder went on a mission to create watch straps that could allow the watch to sit directly on the wrist.
Initially, the founder explored the possibility of manufacturing the straps in the USA but faced difficulties in finding suitable manufacturers. As a result, they turned their attention overseas, investing time and money in negotiating and shipping samples back and forth. However, after months of unsuccessful efforts, the founder decided that USA production was the only viable option.
Through persistence and numerous rejections, they eventually found manufacturers willing to bring their ideas and designs to life. As a result, The Watch Steward proudly offers watch straps that are made in the USA.
