For more than ten years, Crown and Buckle has designed and developed quality watch straps and replacement bands.
They have brought numerous new designs to the market, and they have been willing to innovate their products and play with colors, textures, finishing, and materials.
At the beginning of this year, C&B released two-piece Nato straps. These straps feature a mix of cotton and nylon materials for the strap, and a premium brushed buckle and keepers with polished chamfers.
Just a few months later, this April, they are back with more, this time with the new US Military Nato watch strap.
The strap is also made from a blend of cotton and nylon. Cotton provides softness, and nylon is there for increased durability.
The construction of straps is a single-piece design. There is no second underkeeper that prevents the watch from sliding across the strap.
Less fabric between the wrist and the case = less thickness and better wearability.
At the moment, strap is available in five colors and in 20mm and 22mm widths. The length is 255mm or 10 inches. The overall thickness is 1.2mm. All very nice measures.
This watch strap is loosely inspired by the MIL-S-46383 specification for watch straps, which has been used by the military for many years. As such, it features the NSN or NATO Stock Number 6645-00-333-5396.
Here are the specs:
Width | 20mm or 22mm |
Tapering | None |
Length | 255mm |
Thickness | 1.2mm |
Construction | Fully stitched |
Material | Canvas & nylon blend |
Buckle | Heavy-duty faceted solid stleel |
Keepers | Floating; removable |
Color | Grey, black, olive, khaki, blue |
Finishing | Matte |
Personally, I like the inclusion of a canvas keeper for one simple reason: it enhances the comfort of wearing the watch during desk work.
With regular pass-through straps, I always tend to scrape the MacBook's metal case around the trackpad area. Also, the constant friction between the metal hardware and the palmrest sometimes causes discomfort.
The canvas keeper simply serves to prevent any potential scraping or damage on the laptop that can be caused by the metal keepers.
Crown & Buckle provides not one, but two keepers with each strap. They are made from the same canvas/nylon blend. The only difference is the size: one keeper is 18mm wide, and the second one is 22mmm.
Kudos to C&B for thinking about this aspect of the wearing experience, and going way beyond what's expected.
I believe this US Military Nato strap can suit both modern and vintage watches. It looks to be a versatile strap that can be worn in casual settings, during outdoor activities, and even during professional work.
This shoud be a great value at $26.
